I'm going on a cruise ship vacation.
Anybody ever do any on-board scanning?
Any tips, suggestions, or frequencies?
Joe

What cruise ship you going be on ?

try this list.

Tip: Bring a electric extension cord (not many plugs in the room)
to plug in laptop/Scanners, etc. (because the wall wart plug might not fit on the wall outlet/desk area)

I just got back from my cruise. I searched the suggested marine frequencies and only got those digital sounding tones.
I did a full search and picked up a lot of people talking on those walkie-talkies in the 400mhz range. That was fun for a little while.

Most cruze ships use a 10 meg UHF split and the out put is mostly the 467band.

				Actually it will Vary.
European installed Radios will use 10 Mhz off-sets.
North American use the 10.225 Mhz [Fast Food Pairs]
It's a pretty good bet, that many will use the following set-up, however
the input/output will vary wildly.
457.5250 467.7500 467.5250
457.5500 467.7750 467.5500[GMRS]
457.5750 467.8000 467.5750[GMRS]
457.6000 467.8250 467.6000[GMRS]
Check out my web pages for more actual Frequencies.
As always, Looking for Confirmed Updates, not just from Cruisers, but
from Port Visits as well.

Sorry I didn't reply sooner, I've been on vacation and busy with the holidays.
I was on the Holland America Oosterdam. I searched the marine frequencies but didn't get much. I did a full scan and picked-up a lot of other passengers talking to each other on their walkie-talkie's.
Interesting point about the off-sets. Maybe that was it.
Later,
Joe

458.0500 R
457.5250 S
457.5500 S
457.5750 S
457.6000 S
Nothing has been reported for the Oosterdam
