Drove by 28's today and saw many new pieces of apparatus. New Rescue 4, Haz Mat 44, and Brush 10, 33, 34 and 40, all brand new. Looks like the end of the lime-green brush rigs is near.

I believe part of next years budget includes more brush rigs and a new light and air unit.

The monster is yet to come!

There's several more rigs coming soon. A 75' quint is on the way. And a new S&S 6x6 Ultra XT brush rig should be here in Dec.

There's the possibility of 2 more XT's. There will also be 2-3 105' quints and a new tractor trailer aerial ordered soon.

Most of those lime green brush rigs were built back in the 70's by La Mesa Sheet Metal Works. It's about time they're getting new ones.

Is there a change in policy on new rigs - i.e., no more straight engines, only quints? Some depts have moved that way.

Looked good when I saw it in the back of Station 28 driving up the 163 :D

Quints

Engines will stay essentially the same as they are now. Some of the future trucks will be quints. I think that they'll all be dispatched primarily as truck companies, but can handle the odd dumpster or car fire. Also, the truck companies will hopefully all have a medic soon.

New light and air 1 (LA1) arrived this week. Drove past it on the freeway the other day and now it sits at 28's waiting to be put into service.

I saw brand new Light and Air 40 today. Looks nice. I did not realize that 40 had a Light and Air unit. Not much room left at 40 with the engine, medic, truck, brush and water tender there.
