Chula Vista Engine 51

Does anyone know what happened to Engine 51 I keep hearing engine 251 the reserve engine I think it is being dispatched anyone know whats going on?

It might have gone with our county firefighters to Northern CA to help with the fires. I have heard some 1## engines within San Diego also.

Yeah more than likely up in No Cal. Went to the structure fire in El Cajon today and they had the old E6 ons as E206.

Yes, E51 went to NorCal, along with IBFD E39 and NCFD E34. Both of these are using 2XX numbers at this time. The reason the units have not reverted to the usual unit number (E51, E39 etc) is the original unit is still in service, just not in San Diego County. It would cause confusion when the strike team gets back in the county and tried to use their radio if either Heartland or San Diego did not use the 1XX or 2XX identifier. Hope this helps.
