mobile v portable

I am upgrading from analog to digital and wanted to know which is more suited to my needs: mobile or portable? I intend to keep my scanner at home, probably in my garage, and I am looking for a scanner that works well even in the absence of an external antenna.

Another thing to think about.

Reading the screen read out from where you sit in the garage.
Most mobile scanner has bigger letters on the screen.

And out much sound the handheld can put out on a external speaker.

50-50 toss up on what kind to get!

Good luck picking a new digital scanner out.
