I was out in Anza-Borrego for the weekend. I was staying in the State Park campground and all hell was breaking loose. There were (I'm sure) hurricane force winds, driving rain and sleet, and units going code 3 in all directions the whole time. I didn't have the Park Ranger freq. programmed and the only thing in the motorhome was a 2001 Scan Fan. It said the Park Rangers used 827.125 so I put it in. Nothing. I could hear the CHP closing roads and responding to crashes, but nothing from the park. The State Park advertises free wifi on it's website, but the only service available is an AT&T source for $7 a day and I wasn't going to do that. The rangers said they had cancelled the free wifi. Great.

So Itook the laptop in the Jeep to the library parking lot. Great hotspot. Logged in, went to listings, State of California Misc, State Park Rangers, and found Colorado Desert, 857.125.

Put it in and it was going non-stop with rescues, flooding, evacs and enough stuff to keep me interested through my wife's entire chick-flick. Thanks for the info!

The library was 1.85 miles from me, line of sight, according to my GPS and I might pull it off with MFJs wifi yagi next time. We'll see.
