Here's a suggestion. If there's an incident where they're looking for a suspect or suspects, take note of the suspect/vehicle description and cruise around the area outside the police perimeter. Then if you see a subject or vehicle matching the description CALL IT IN. An extra pair of feet stomping around the scene is usually useless, but an extra pair of eyes looking around the area can be quite useful.
