BCD 996
has anyone used the fire tone function on this new unit and also what is it im thinking of getting one real soon.
See pages 116-118 in the manual (on line @ Uniden) for explaination of the function. I know what the tone-out is, but I am not sure how this will affect the regular scanner performance. Also, you need to get info from the agency you wish to monitor to use this function.
I have no plans to use this function, but love the scanner.

Yes, I am using the UASD software. I have had no problems with it.
When scanning, when you press HOLD, it does stop on the control channel for the current system. Simply turn the big knob clockwise to go to the TG that you want. Just turn it back and forth to go thru the system channels and talk groups. Continue on, and go thru the next system.

Thanks i usually use the software from butel because i never have problems with it. PS... has any one programed there radio by using the sites because i tried to program it with fire and police in each site for the RCS north part of san diego and i was wondering how do you lock out a site so it dosent scan for example police if i wanted only listen to fire any help would be appreciated

I can't tell how you have your systems programmed, so it is hard to answer.
If you have all of the sites (North, South, East) in one system with multiple channel groups (Police, Fire, Sheriff), then see page 84 of the manual to lock out a channel group.
If you used Quick Keys, check the index for multiple places to refer to their use.
