Kinda wierd...the original Engine 23 was replaced a couple of months ago with the old Pierce from station 4. The new engine 4 was the 2006 engine that was originally placed in service at station 46. So I don't know where 23s went...maybe to 46? Or do they finally have the quint in service?
The assignments for the first 8 KME engines are Engines 1,15,27,34,38,39,45, and 201. A new Pierce engine is on order for Engine 47 as well. 4 Pierce 105' rear mount aerials and 1 Crimson tiller on order. The tiller may be here already.
Why the split in vendors? SDFD orders a massive amount of KME engines yet still buys (in dribbles) Pierce engines & trucks. Just trying to understand the logic...
Pierce is what they want. KME is who won the big contract. The 50 engine contract did not incude Engine 47, so in that case they bought what they wanted. That is how I understand it.
It's not there right now, but T1 (a Pierce?) 110ft tiller has been delivered to the SDFD Repair Facility for acceptance. It is quite cool! No pictures yet. I haven't had the time...Tim
