Notice to officer_415 (mlangeveld) California Database Admin and other staff members on RadioReference

This is the place to discuss generalized scanner questions and information for San Diego County. Whether it's radios, antennas, or other general scanner related topics, you can talk about it here.

Notice to officer_415 (mlangeveld) California Database Admin on RadioReference

Please respect other scanner users in California. Do not use their information for the RadioReference Database.
Many scanner users don't want their information to be used on the RadioReference website. It's why they stopped submitting to RadioReference.com

"Data obtained directly from the FCC database is not permitted, nor is data obtained by "mining" other web pages (unless permission is obtained from the owner of the web page)."

Thank You!

----------------------------------------
Receipt of Submissions and Data Sources
Submissions are usually received from users who have clicked on a Submit tab somewhere in the database, and will appear in the Open Submissions queue on the Database Administrator page. Administrators may also "mine" the forums for confirmed data, but must submit that data following the normal procedure for that county/system, and give due credit in the submission to the member who originally posted the data. Submitted data may be used as long as it has been confirmed by the submitter through over-the-air monitoring. Data obtained directly from the FCC database is not permitted, nor is data obtained by "mining" other web pages (unless permission is obtained from the owner of the web page).

Some submissions may include radio programming data extracted from programming files commonly known as "codeplugs" or "personalities." This data may be used under the following conditions:

Frequencies and sites must be confirmed by monitoring to avoid conflicts with existing systems.
Talkgroups do not "pre-date" information already in the database. Where talkgroups already exist in the database, an effort must be made to verify whether the database data or the codeplug data is the most recent and up-to-date.

There should be a lawsuit against radioreference also they are responsible with Broadcastify for causing all the encryption.

Looks like RadioReference lost another member from North County area.
Plus all the others that left or stopped submitting on RadioReference in the last few years.

His closing post on this page.

I do not post anything on radioreference any more either as Their database info is way outdated and inaccurate also they are the root cause of the encryption problem along with their broadcastify, and I also refuse to help any agency that encrypts their dispatch with anything but that is another topic for somewhere else.

Their information seems more up to date than the information on this site. I'm curious why Brian is so against RadioReference when his posts are full of links to their database, etc.

I can point out many areas where Radioreference for the San Diego county area is well out of date but I won't discuss it here as that is a topic for another thread.

Why is that officer_415's fault? I thought the site is only as good as the people who contribute. Does officer_415 even live in San Diego County? Can he hear San Diego County? If you can point out many areas where RR for SD County area is well out of date and you haven't contributed, then you are part of the problem. If somebody hurt your feelings, put on your big boy pants and move on from it.

I know Brian works is butt off around here and I appreciate his work very much.

But damn, this is childish. And to say that RR and Broadcastify is the main cause for the encryption sweeping the country, well, that’s just an uninformed opinion.

More trash info added into the Radio Reference database

More trash info added into the Radio Reference database
Sadly the wrong info gets added to the MRA RRDB page by inigo88 database Admin.

Changed Site # 001 (Santiago Peak) to 1 (Santiago Peak) inigo88 2024-12-01 22:48:11

I just looked at the Site 1 info with DSD+ to double check.
Ch.17441 - 454.503125 - Primary Control Channel

The true frequency is 454.503125 not 454.50625.

Guessing no one checked it with DSD+ and used some scanner that rounded the frequency.

Another user post on RR Forum:
The current CC for MRA NXDN2 DFA Santiago site is in fact 454.50625.

MRA NXDN system.

Let’s see how long it takes them to correct it.

That's why radioreference is unreliable and a waste best to use FCC databases and more accurate places like here.

Is there a database on here somewhere? Or are people supposed to dig through the forums to find a frequency they're looking for? RadioReference seems to be a much more convenient place to find information to me. And like orcotruck59 said, if you know something is wrong and you don't submit a correction, then you're part of the problem.
