ESCONDIDO: Report of shots at mobile home park
By North County Times | Friday, June 6, 2008
ESCONDIDO ---- A report of shots fired kept Escondido police officers at a mobile-home park for at least two hours Thursday, officials said.
At about 8 p.m., a resident of Canyon Crest Mobile Home Park at 2100 S. Escondido Blvd. told dispatchers that shots might have been fired at a nearby residence, officials said.
At least two residences were evacuated as officers surrounded the home in question, according to radio traffic at the time.
A sheriff's helicopter also was sent to the scene but was eventually called off when officers could get no one to answer a phone at the residence, according to radio traffic.
Traffic was blocked in some areas near the park, including Escondido Boulevard. As of 10 p.m., officers were still at the scene and no additional information was available.
