LOOKING FOR OPINIONS ON A PROJECT-
I am thinking of starting a group for southern NV AZ and S Ca for like minded folks who might be interested in joining a radio network on TeamTalk. it is a regional 450 passpoprt trunked system we would theortically have 3 talkgroups on or one common for folks to exchange infomation on breaking incidents, frequency info and general chat. The cost would be about $30 per month plus the cost of a radio. There are similar groups back east, but with the wildland fires and chases that span wide areas I thought a regional approach would be cool. I do not have hard details, but if there is interest I will pursue it.

Mike,
You won't need a license.
You just be a user on the system with your own 'radio ID' that is programmed into your radio. In case of 'non monthly payment' fisherwireless can disable that user radio over the air.
The FCC license is cover by FisherWireless (They own the system).
The passport system works pretty good! Talked to one person that was in Las Vegas when I was in North county....
Just think of a large Nextel system. User phone = user twoway radio etc...

OK
there appears to be intrest, though how much is arguable.
If anyone out there would be interested in signing up, PM me so I can get a count, as was said, I Xposted to Radio Reference, and been getting nibbles. I have said if i can get 10 people we just may get this to fly.
Reminder, monthly fee at this point is $30, but I will not start to negiciate until I get enough people. Radios are extra, but I found 5 mobiles for $50 ea and you can get a new icom for $200, mobiles and portables count as 2 radios so double the charge/mo Programming will be $50 for your radio, $30 for theirs. At this point there would be two TGs, plus acess to private call and talkaround features.
