does anyone have a good history of the 1984 mcd's massacre?
specifically pertaining to jerry sanders and his capacity as a SWAT officer involved in the incident. I've been combing the web looking for stuff, and I was only 1, so i don't really remember much. I read an article on the reader website where norm stamper talks about him, but i was wondering if anyone had anymore. just personal interest, i guess.

Former San Diego Police Chief Jerry Sanders Unfit to be Mayor
Jerry Sanders, who was the Commander of the Swat team, was busy drinking with other policemen at a special police event in Mission Bay. We can’t forget that the members of the SWAT team couldn’t get into their armored vehicle. Someone had misplaced the necessary 2nd key to the vehicle. Could it be that Jerry Sanders had it?

I had a good recording of the scanner radio traffic of the incident. If I can locate it, I'll tell you.. I digitized it from tape that a friend had who worked for one of the radio stations at the time.
Not exactly what you asked for, but perhaps interesting none the less.
I'll look around for it and let you know.

I painfully remember that day. I had the news on the radio and tv at the same time. I was 20 years old and thought I was invincible. That day changed the way I thought about everything. The first time you see innocent children slaughtered you never take anything for granted again. As long as I continue to see such things occur in our country, I will never get used to it. The people who dare to criticize the actions of off-duty police officers are hypocrites. It is too easy to sit at a desk and print that crap when you have not walked in their shoes. They may choose not to wear the badge and carry the gun, but they have no right to second guess the officers. They have no idea what goes on in an officer's life.
I'm sorry if I went off an a tangent, but I feel very strongly about the men and women that choose to protect us. I have been to a LEO funeral and I know how dedicated the LEO community is to our protection.
