Are "DES" channels encrypted?

Post by w6kru »

I am looking at the TGs for SDSO. I see several TG IDs with "DES" in the alpha tags. Are these encrypted for sure? I am guessing yes but can't find any listings that verify that. If they really are encrypted, I might as well remove them from the talkgroup.

Last I monitored those talkgroups they were in the clear. Perhaps the encryption is user selectable and they opted not to use it that round.

Thanks Brandon! Good to know. I'll leave them in and see what I hear.

I hear them in the clear and encrypted but there are times where I think they forget to turn the encryption back on ;)
