South Site Signal Strength

Come here to talk about the San Diego and Imperial County Regional Communications System. This is a great resource to share talkgroups and information about the countywide RCS.

South Site Signal Strength

Post by dbelleperc »

Has anyone noticed that the signal strength is not as good as the old system. I can’t really lock on to any talkgroups now on my TRX-1 for the RCS. My old Pro-96 has no issues with the older system. 98-99% signal strength. Now it’s around 40-50%.

Yes! Same thing on the West site for me. I’m using a cheap Yagi and an SDS200 which gives me the best results. I had to retire my TRX-1 for the RCS.

First, I live in Ramona. I only get the West and East, very strong. On the old I used to Northeast and some South. I would do better with an outside antenna but I live in a HOA and they don't permit outside antennas of any kind. I am using a 30 year Antenna Specialist mobile antenna. I am going to put an outside antenna up in my attic, but I need some help getting up there. A friend is going to help me get it up there and run the line to my office where my radios are. I am using an HP-2, BCD536HP and a SDS200. My Hp-2 is on the stock antenna and gets East and West very well, even better when I go outside. When I lived in El Cajon, I used to get South, East and West on an outside antenna.
