New SDS200 user looking for two North County sites

Post by Marcouniden »

I've been scanning for a few weeks here but there are two sites that I have yet to track down. First - RSF Patrol; I can hear Northcom dispatch from time to time reference the Patrol but can't locate RSF Patrol dispatch. Second - Polo Fields aka Surf Cup. Appreciate any assistance. Thanks!

Thanks Brian. That's Rancho Santa Fe Security, which is a private company that monitors alarms for businesses in the area. That's not the Patrol, which is operated by the Association.

Negative, that’s the talkgroups Rancho Santa Fe Association Patrol.
Same people you hear talking to NorthComm dispatch.

So is the database incorrect? Because the Master DB once uploaded into my SDS200 lists these as Rancho Santa Fe Security.

And a license search shows this:
WPNY371 RANCHO SANTA FE SECURITY SYSTEMS INC 0010717445 IG Active 07/30/2024

With an address in Encinitas.

And no active license for any other similar entity in town.

Happy to be proven wrong.

RadioReference has lots of wrong info for San Diego County areas or missing info in their database. Lots of DMR repeaters in San Diego County areas aren’t listed in their database. It’s why many people don’t support RadioReference anymore.

Two different companies.

Use the talkgroups on the RCS system for RSF patrol that covers the covenant areas.

If they use analog radios at the surf cup soccer field.
Best to use Uniden close call when at the field.
Most likely in the UHF range better 451-469MHz.

Hello Marco.

As a friendly suggestion, make sure the SDS200 has the latest firmware update. I'm running 1.21.00 — there might be a newer one. Earlier versions had a buffer overrun problem when receiving interference or when the receiver acquires an encrypted signal. It caused the display to hang intermittently. For example, the display might say Site 44 WACN 92001 and that was actually from three transmissions ago on a different channel. New firmware slightly reduces the receiver's ability to rake in weak signals, making it work much better.

Cycle power occasionally if you're getting a lot of mixing interference. That will prevent you from eagerly collecting a bunch of bogus data.

Apologies if you already knew this.

Example: buffer overrun (left) and normal search (right):
