It’s not fully doorstop yet and still can be used on the NextGen. It might still have some life in it for another year.
Most of the main talkgroups(dispatch) on the RCS NextGen are still in P25 Phase I mode.
Police/Sheriff/Fire dispatch talkgroups should be using P25 Phase I for another year or two.

Some of the less used talkgroups(Cars,Patrol Tac /Tac’s/Command’s) will be using P25 Phase II more often. Because less older radios are on those talkgroups and newer radios are being used.

RCS is just waiting for the agencies to replace the older radios with newer radios that can do P25 Phase II.
But it will take another year or two to get every radio replaced.

Like mike said above, it might be time to start thinking about upgrading your main scanner that can be used with talkgroups that’s using P25 Phase II.
So start reading up about the Uniden SDS100 handheld scanner or the desktop/mobile Uniden SDS200 scanner.

If you take your Whistler 1040 scanner and use the Pro96com software. You can get better idea on what the RCS NextGen site is doing.
Whistler 1040 is great scanner to keep around to be used with Pro96com software. So you can see what these P25 trunked sites are doing daily.

Plus you can use the Whistler 1040 for Cal Fire stuff doing the brush fires and other analog stuff.

Another great radio is the BCD325P2 it does Phase 2 P25 not as pricey as the SDS100 and 200 models depending on needs or what upgrades you want.
