Chris,
I think the USFS is still using Lead Planes, or at least their contractors (Aero Union and Minden Air) are. I've stopped at the San bernardino Tanker Base a couple of times in the last few years and been able to shoot photos of them.

I still think the Board of Supervisors are going to get a rude awakening about how they're wasting taxpayer's money on the scoopers. Chris has a very valid point, Where will they fill these planes? Would Skycranes do a better job with easier fill locations and almost as much water capabilities?

Mike, Yes, E51 went to NorCal, along with IBFD E39 and NCFD E34. Both of these are using 2XX numbers at this time. The reason the units have not reverted to the usual unit number (E51, E39 etc) is the original unit is still in service, just not in San Diego County. It would cause confusion when the ...

I think Mike's a little upset that Chula Vista didn't have their annual fireworks. I've heard 2 stories-1) They had to use the $75,000 that the city usually budgeted to help keep city employees on the job or 2) they couldn't afford the insurance, which also probably would have come out of the genera...

will SDFD'S medics be chula vista's medics when the contract with AMR ends? Any and all paramedic contracts throughout the county that are not solely fire department based (and this includes the San Diego contract) go out through an RFP (Request For Proposal). A commission generally looks over the ...

SDFD was testing their interface with us today. We have been told they will still be on the Chula Vista channels and use the same designators.

Actually, they're already moving away from the Fords. According to a mechanic I know, both EMTs and Medics are getting GMCs. BLS will use 3500s, Medics 4500s. I'm not sure of the difference. I'll attach a photo later.
