SDFD KME's

The KMEs are in various stages of outfitting. In a cost saving measure, all outfitting is now done by the factory instead of by firefighters locally. That means that the first rig comes in and is outfitted, then has to go back to the factory shops in Ontario for all the others to match. Also, the r...

BC246T Answer

Here I am answering my own question.

I had to manually add the TG ID's to the scanner. It appears that the problem is with the Uniden UASD software. Does anyone else out there use this software?

BC246T problem

I think I may have found the problem. It appears that when I upload my database from the Bearcat software, the scanner is not "reading" the talkgroup ID's. They all appear as a zero. I'm just not sure how to remedy the problem. I can download the latest Bearcat software or go out and purch...

BC246T problem

Have any of you experienced the following? I have had SDFD in my 246T since day one. I programmmed it and other systems using the Bearcat Software. Now none of the talk groups receive anything in the SCAN mode, only the search mode. SDPD (in a spearate bank) works just fine. Only the Fire and LG tal...

Simulcasting

No procedural changes. It is probably a console setup error on the part of the dispatcher. My guess is that Monte Vista (CAL Fire) or Rancho called and the simulcast was terminated.

Dating outselves

When I got my first scanner (1987) I can remember learning the tones, even for a medical aid. E17/M317 and E33/M133 were the easiest for me to discern.

Tones

The Fish has it right, although I never hear the tones on my BC246T, Used to hear them on VHF back in the day, though.

Radio Patching

We do use Multi-select through the Motorola consoles, but I don't think that would have anything to do with it...but what do I know. For about the last two years, the Dispatch position has been simulcasting all dispatches on the Station Alerting circuit, and the Admin and Dispatch TG's.

Since we don't track when PDS is or is not staffed, they are NOT voiced. If they are being voiced, it is because the dispatcher is not aware of the radio protocol or just clueless.

When this thread was initially posted, there was an outage of an Encanto node on the city 800 system. It should have affected for the just Dispatch or Admin, though. The primary problem was extremely low volume.
