Hi marylee1126, there are two basic manufacturers of scanners GRE who makes most of Radio Shack’s PRO series scanners, and Uniden-Bearcat is the other manufacturer to think about. Both are good scanners and many scanner buff’s debate this question. Some of the most important thing’s for me are progr...

Hi Doug, the scanner you mentioned is an analog only model. To hear the Police Department’s that are in your post, you would need a digital radio, And the noise you are hearing is probably digital signals. But the 246T is still a really nice radio, and yes it can be confusing, so if you can, try to ...

Sean set up a conventional 800 system for the city a few times over and You too can see that more then one 800 frequency is being used for fire dispatch’s. And that really does not explain, what it is that fire is doing when they make a dispatch. Or what TG 4688 is ? But thanks for the input, and al...

Thanks for your help it’s really appreciated. NorthWestern is a better
alpha tag (Moniker) for programming anyway. But I’m not sure what you
mean when you say they (NE&SE) are dead. But the divisions them self
can be quite hot with 187’s and 10851 pursuits. You know, all the gangs.

Well I don’t know how all this stuff works in a technical sense. And I am no authority on how all these patch’s work (I wish I knew more) But I can tell you that the San Diego Fire Department uses a lot of patch’s When dispatching call’s on 7-A like adding in the Administration TG, or other TGs like...

So when you get it, if you have any trouble programming it, I would suggest Taking it to a guy named Bud, Almost any body on the scandiego forums can hook you upwith him. Also you can go on http://www.scandiego.com/ and look ov...

Hey Nerdy, Do both, get an analog scanner for the 200 bucks or way less, as there are many Trunk tracking radios to choose from. Some as cheap as 100 dollars, or even cheaper. And with over 700 analog RCS talk group’s like Law Air, It’s where multiple agencies Look for the sheriff’s helicopter or AB...
