Tim, Thanks for the information. I find it odd that they would let Chula Vista keep the numbers they currently use (Station 51-59) when Poway just gave up those numbers. With the number of planned SDFD stations they will easily move into the 50's in the future. Why not avoid a future problem and ren...

I just provided the text of the law. Whether people choose to believe it, or in what way they interpret it, is their business.

Maybe the CHP will start enforcing this law with all the other "Geek Squads" out there.

I rarely see private security vehicles painted black and white. I have seen close combinations, but rarely if ever a straight up black car with white doors. I even read an article recently that discussed the CHP asking the "Geek Squad" from Best Buy not to purchase black and white VW's. To...

CDF Tac 4 is MVU local. The simulcasting of dispatches is intentional. They want the 800 mhz dispatch talkgroup and MVU local simulcasted while making certain dispatches. Note that if a unit on 800 MVU Dispatch transmits, it does not come across local. This is because the channels are not patched, b...

AFAIK, as long as the lightbar does not contain blue or red, it's legal. Having a black and white vehicle is not a crime. Oh yes it is a crime.... Vehicle Resembling Law Enforcement Vehicle 27605. No person shall own or operate a motor vehicle painted in the manner described in Section 40800 to res...

SDFD 500 series engines

During the fires I heard SDFD using some engines numbered in the 500's (e.g. E501, E503, E506). I already know that additional engines out of the same station get 100 and 200 series ID's, but what are the 500-series rigs? I am thinking they may have been training engines put into use, but I am not s...

More and more P25 TG's are showing up often & almost all are in the clear. I am using Site 501 and 502 and 508 which are a full scale signal in northern Orange County. I cannot hear Site 504 at all anywhere in Orange County. About a month ago my 396T could receive System 504 from Oceanside with...

About a month ago my 396T could receive System 504 from Oceanside with no problem. Now I don't hear anything at all. Once in awhile a talkgroup will break squelch but seems encryoted. Has the whole system gone encrypted. I am hearing nothing in the clear.

I heard Pendleton Fire tell some units earlier to switch from the "Venture" system? to the "EMLS" ? system. Now I hear no traffic on the 400mhz system from fire anymore. I could be wrong about the names they used to describe the systems, but overall it seemed they were changing t...
