Radio Shack for a cheap jumper, HRO for a decent one, and RF parts for the best jumper with LMR wire.

BC245XLT question

I just picked up a used BC245XLT trunk tracker II yesterday for 15 bucks. I was wondering if it will scan any trunked systems in San Diego??? I know it won't do the "RCS" system here. But it seems to do a good job on the CHP regular channels.

BC 396 instructions

I found this, seems easier to understand for me on operating my scanner, even though mine is a 996.

Thanks for the info Brandon. I can get Vulcan Mt very weak here. I am going to get or make a Yagi beam antenna here in the next few days. I have some good coax, I think its the LMR400 or something like that. I go out to the desert once or twice a month, and usually end up around Ocotillo or east to ...

East zone from North zone

I have been trying to listen to Imperial County Sheriff and Brawly PD talk groups on the north system. I have not heard anything yet. Is this type of listening possible on the North Zone??? The talk groups I have been trying for are 39840, 39856, 39872, 42512, etc........
THANKS

Yes, its an old 1968 Crown. I cut down a 2 meter antenna to 3" and it seems to work better than the scanner antenna!!!
Another question. What is a "resident CHP" TG??? I listened to it for a few days and hear nothing. Its on the North system and it TG#38624.

860MHZ antenna

I have this antenna set up now. I know the coax is not the best. But does anyone think a 2 meter antenna cut down to 3" length would work better for receiving SDPD here in San Marcos??? I can receive them now, but a real weak signal. I am on a small hill (800' above sea level) with a good view ...
