Re: O.K. So where is this volcano??!!

The most interesting thing about all this is the way they "perform" their roles. Knowing that it's a practice makes some of the conversation, requests and statements a bit humorous. In one exchange, "Alan" asked the folks who were awaiting rescue if they could pick up some volcan...

Re: O.K. So where is this volcano??!!

My confusion is that the situation just didn't seem to be real. There was a sense of emergency in their voices but no real urgency or panic. They did not seem at all like professional rescue personnel and the fellow "Alan" was quite nonchalant about the idea that there were no air resource...

O.K. So where is this volcano??!!

I heard snippets of it months ago... Today, on San Diego City Tac 6 there is activity concerning a volcano, trapped scientists and the need for air support! It has to be a drill since I know that there's no volcanic activity anywhere within 1000's of miles but these guys sure play it to the hilt if ...

Thanks

Brian,

I can't thank you enough for all your help. It's only taken me a week to figure this thing out and I'm sure I'd still be scratching my head without your help.

Once you gave me a little "hands on" help, it all started to make sense.

Once again, thank-you!

Bingo!

Bingo! That was it! My only concern now is that, when I set all the group keys to off (except the one I want to scan), I'm still getting some unwanted channels with only a TGID that show up. I'm wondering where they're coming from? Anyway, I'm well on my way to having this scanner set up just like I...

I think I'm getting it

Hi again, I think I finally got it. That BCTool is excellent and I was able to set up two groups. One in SD City (called "Common 5") for my favorite channels there and one in RCS South (called "Common 6"). I gave them a Group Quick Key of 5 & 6 respectively. They scan just gr...

Brian, Thanks again. I hope you aren't getting annoyed with me. I understand your answer mostly but I'm a little confused on one thing: I'll actually have 2 systems (SDUSD is on the SD trunked system) Are you saying that I should have a group named...say "Common 1", that would have all the...

Now I'm getting it but...

Your help has sped up my understanding of things. I'm able to set and use Quick Keys for the system and now for the groups. But, I'm still having trouble doing something: Setting up a system (or systems) that will scan just the freqs of interest in my area without having to turn on/off a ton of grou...

An epiphany

I just had an epiphany! I finally got the idea of how the Quick Keys work on systems. It's a matter of switching each system on/off with a quick key. By punching a few keys to turn off systems, I can keep just one system (or more) scanning. Now if I can just figure out to apply that concept to turni...

My BCD396t

Hi, Thanks for responding. Actually no... There are, of course, hundreds of frequencies that can be scanned in the San Diego City System but I don't want to listen to all of them at once. My question is: How can a choose a group out of this system to scan without having to hear all the other groups....
