Geez folks, one of the reasons why I actively listen to a scanner in my car is to know about areas where I DON'T want to be. I want to AVOID areas with police, fire or paramedic activity. It's the same reason why I use the XM Navtraffic feature on my GPS receiver.

Nope, not even close. Like I said, we were driving on 125-S at 94.
Isn't that what I said immediately above? Please check the first set of coordinates. Thanks. Ah, you posted before I finished editing. Silly me.

BTW, I had just visited the vicinity of the radio site at N33:09:32.18 W116:35:55.95 ...

Uh, what Southbound 125 to Southbound 805 offramp?
Oops, I obviously got that wrong! It was on a transition ramp though. Fortunately my GPSR was turned on at the time. Consulting the track log, I think it was either as the Southbound 125 crosses the 94 at or near N32 44.644 W117 01.076 on 08/26 ...

Re: Massive Mobilehome Transport Accident

We were driving on 125-S at 94 between 3 and 4 pm today, and a big flatbed oversized trailer hauling a mobile-home lost its axle or something right in front of us. It appears there were no collisions, as people were staying back anyway, and I had a clear view of the mini-explosion and parts ...

With the PRO-96 and PRO-2096, for each bank into which you program a trunked system like RCS in closed mode, you can monitor up to 150 separate talkgroups. Those 150 talkgroups are split into 5 (numbered 0 through 4) sets of 30 talkgroups (numbered 0 through 29) each. Each set of 30 talkgroups can ...

I finally installed the permanent NMO antenna mounts on my car. I did it myself because the labor estimates from the pros I contacted were way too high for my blood. Messing with the headliner ("we gotta drop it") is very time consuming ('we have to remove and put back all that trim").

I used the ...

Yes, I listen to them occasionally. The Socalscan website http://members.cox.net/socalscan/ has system details.

Well, that's not surprising. Does anyone honestly want to deciate an expensive digital scanner to providing a live RCS feed?

It's been back since at least November.

Mobile antenna mounts

So what do you guys/gals think of 3/8 hole NMO mounts as opposed to 3/4 hole NMO mounts? I've been told that the smaller 3/8 hole makes the mounting significantly stronger.

While we're on the subject, what do you think of RG8X coax in mobile installations? I know, it's solid core. But man, the loss ...
