Double check the settings. Make sure the system is set to MOTO type II. There is also a toggle for SPLINTER on some of them. The S zone is not a splinter (the North zone is)

why do i get a really bad noise on freq 868.41250 every time the scanner gets to that freq it sound like a diesel truck running. it's on my S.D County freq's

That's the data channel. You're not in trunk mode.

What scanner is it? You have to program the frequencies in as a Motorola Type II ...

I'm hearing them also, but they seem to be slow as opposed to other depts. I usually don't monitor them, but locked onto them to see if they came up. I'm also using a 96.
