Ongoing discussions regarding other fire dispatching in San Diego County including Heartland, NorthComm, Monte Vista, etc. Topics about general wildland fire scanning are also welcome here.
I've seen El Cajon Fire with one, now SD seems to have one. A specially modified truck with a roll out back deck, built in O2 cylinder holders (looks like torpedo racks).. Interesting concept.
pix don't work for me but i assume you're talking about a pickup style truck vs the suburbans? i think b7 has one, sweet silverado with new LED's and such. nice rig.
The Medical Specimens trucks I drove used that same (looks like) slide out carrier in the bed. They're really toughly built, strong, should have no problems unless you really go nuts overloading them.
Of course, the weight slid out will tilt the vehicle back, but the 'shelf' should be quite sturdy.
San Diego bought several of those. El Cajon's is a little more like a utility body, like a squad type thing, with radios in the compartments. Saw it at Firehouse World. Unique idea.
