You are still trying to enter a talkgroup where you're supposed to be entering a frequency, or you have set up the wrong type of trunking system. City of San Diego is a Motorola Smartnet Type II system. You need to sit down, and READ your manual. All of it. Go over how to program trunking systems, a...

Sneaky trick for getting 'live' weather radar

Due to the thunderstorm that mosied through here Thursday, I looked around a bit at the various weather radars online. Most, of course, update only every 10-15 minutes at best, and may take longer than that to get the update 'online'. However, I discovered that while Flight Aware has the aircraft po...

XMIT ID: 034003 08650000 Unknown Trunk ID -------- It means that, as I mentioned above, he has the scanner set wrong, so it's adding what are called 'status bits' to the ID codes. 34003 is not a 'valid' Talkgroup for Motorola, all 'valid' base talkgroups are divisible by 16. In this case, the REAL T...

Scan San Diego has his North RCS scanner running again, though the ID groups display is still messed up. (He has 'status bit' on, can't seem to figure out how to turn it OFF) Scan San Diego You should be able to listen to Escondido and SDSO here, now. Of course, it's monitoring ALL groups, so it's p...

It appears to be fire only, but still something. There's one at the site for RCS south fire, and some assorted CDF stuff as well. The one that's down normally carries all groups on North RCS. Oh, if it hasn't been clear, Escondido City police are on the County RCS north system, they no longer (as fa...

Well, you want current gear, it costs. No avoiding that. That doesn't mean you can't listen, though. There are internet streaming audio sources for San Diego County North RCS. One seems to be down, right now, but the other is still up. Go Here and select the feed from the dropdown menu on the left t...

First thing to check would be if you're getting the control channel in that bank. Start it searching in trunk mode in that bank (The fire one), then hit manual. It should be on a control channel with the data buzz. If it isn't, you don't have the control channels all programmed in, probably. It's po...

The Medical Specimens trucks I drove used that same (looks like) slide out carrier in the bed. They're really toughly built, strong, should have no problems unless you really go nuts overloading them.

Of course, the weight slid out will tilt the vehicle back, but the 'shelf' should be quite sturdy.
